Susan Sontag "On Photography"
Hoy estuve leyendo uno de mis blogs favoritos titulado Calle Tabernillas de Rodolfo Serrano, así que su pensamiento me inspiro y decidí hablar acerca de una de las mentes más brillantes de nuestro tiempo Susan Sontag.
Susan Sontag escribió un libro titulado “On Photography” (“Acerca de la Fotografía”) en el cual ella explora y analiza la influencia y la acción de la fotografía en las sociedades de gran afluencia en los medios de comunicación. Mi entendimiento acerca de estos estudios, como siempre lo he dicho, es que el Arte (en este caso la fotografía) es la fuerza que produce cambio en las sociedades, así que la fotografía no es la excepción, antes de la fotografía la única referencia visual de la guerra y la violencia era la interpretación o idealización de un artista, un escritor o un poeta.
Con el poder y la inmediata publicación de imágenes fotográficas nuestra visión de la realidad cambio. Todas las atrocidades, malas noticias y tragedias se convirtieron en cosas muy claras, sin espacio a interpretaciones de ninguna clase. Nos familiarizamos con la violencia, asesinatos, y masacres. En cada periodo en la Historia del Arte el cambio requiere de tiempo, pero cuándo la gente lo entiende las cosas que no eran aceptadas o conocidas se convierten en parte de nuestra sociedad, de nuestra existencia. La fotografía como cualquier otra forma de arte nos trajo este cambio y no estoy diciendo de ninguna manera que este cambio es o fue malo, tan solo es y fue un cambio, la fotografía es una forma de arte muy hermosa y muy poderosa, pero nos entrega su mensaje muy rápidamente y de muchas maneras.
Nuestra sociedad no es enteramente mala o buena, es tan solo el producto de la manipulación de la forma de arte que entrega este o cualquier cambio. Si desean explorar mas acerca de esta interesante realidad, por favor lean “On Photography” (“Acerca de la Fotografía”) de Susan Sontag.

Today I was reading one of my favorites blogs called Calle Tabernillas by Rodolfo Serrano, so I got inspired by his thinking and I decided to talk about one of the most intelligent minds of this time Susan Sontag.
Susan Sontag wrote a book named “On Photography” in which she explored and analyzed about the role of photography in the affluent mass-media societies. My understanding about these studies is as I said before Art (photography in this case) is the force that produces change in societies, so photography is not the exception, before photography the only visual reference of war and violence was the interpretation or idealization of it by an artist, a writer or a poet.
With the power and fast delivery of photographic images our vision of reality changed. All the atrocities, bad news and tragedy became very clear with no room of any kind of interpretation. We became familiar with violence, murder and massacre. In every period of the History of Art change takes time, but when people get this change then something that was not accepted or known becomes part of our society, of our existence. Photography like any other form of art brought this change and I am not saying that this change is or was bad, it is and was just change, photography is a beautiful and powerful form of art, but delivers its message very fast and in many ways.
