Muchas Felicidades. "This is the time to share... be close and be thankful... and forget bad moments... and revive good moments. This is the time in which... we would have to think... that all these feelings... would have to be, with us in all our moments." Merry Christmas. Belinda Shinshillas

Silence You are the voice who speaks the truth, among a profound silence. Eager scream who wants to be heard and no one wants to listen, and no one wants to talk. Silence imposed by those who have fear, pain… silence that leaves your voice lost, alone… relentless in the emptiness of trying to say something, and saying nothing. Belinda Shinshillas

Freedom Freedom seek with intense anxiety, desire to find truth In a net of confused color. Strange shadows dressed in red blood, that through time are forgotten between death. Freedom that exists in the poet’s mind, who sings what he feels although his door is closed. Roots that wring and strangle the soul, even if they protect against the storm and seek the calm. Freedom seek and never found, in the clarity of the day, but only in the darkness of life.

Being a woman means to be beautiful… but not because of how men perceived and painted portraits of us in where their vision was shape. Being a woman means to be beautiful… because of the inner force that moves our lives, that makes us be mothers, that compels us to be creative, that allows us to be sensible, that makes us to be the unbreakable pillars of life, that let us be lovers, that consents us to be submissive in front of love, that let us be strong in front of dec

Alma Desnuda

This Poem is in my opinion, an illustration of the power that any woman has to give herself to love and life. I am sorry but I could not find any English translation.

A VECES...

Memory So many desires, dreams and hopes we lived; so many sunsets we contemplated and sunrises we shared; so many sufferings we cried and happiness we enjoyed; so many moments and seconds we had together; so much life we captured in unforgettable times; such intense memoirs, we wrote together in a book called memory. Van Gogh Self Portraits

Ah! Portraiture, portraiture with the thought, the soul of the model in it, that is what I think must come." "Ah! VINCENT VAN GOGH

Gernica by Pablo Picasso

"Greatness in art is the free, significant and profound expression of reality. And by reality is meant the penetration beneath surfaces to the true meaning of things in their relationship to life." Ventanas

VENTANA SOBRE EL MIEDO El hambre desayuna miedo. El miedo al silencio aturde las calles. El miedo amenaza: Si usted ama, tendrá sida. Si fuma, tendrá cáncer. Si respira, tendrá contaminación. Si bebe, tendrá accidentes. Si come, tendrá colesterol. Si habla, tendrá desempleo. Si camina, tendrá violencia. Si piensa, tendrá angustia. Si duda, tendrá locura. Si siente, tendrá soledad. EDUARDO GALEANO ( Uruguay, 1940 )Tomado de "Palabras Andantes"

" I'm very interested in trying to do portraits, which now is almost impossible thing to do, because you either make an illustration or you make an abstract suggestion. Modigliani

THE FAITHLESS WIFE So I took her to the river believing she was a maiden, but she already had a husband. It was on St. James night and almost as if I was obliged to. The lanterns went out and the crickets lighted up. In the farthest street corners I touched her sleeping breasts and they opened to me suddenly like spikes of hyacinth. The starch of her petticoat sounded in my ears like a piece of silk rent by ten knives. Without silver light on their foliage the trees had grown larger and a horizon of dogs barked very far from the river. Past the blackberries, the reeds and the hawthorne underneath her cluster of hair I made a hollow in the earth I took off my tie, she too off her dress. I, my belt with the revolver, She, her four bodices. Nor nard nor mother-o’-pearl have skin so fine, nor does glass with silver shine with such brilliance. Her thighs slipped away from me like startled fish, half full of fire, half full of cold. That night I ran on the best of road smounted on a nacre ma

"About Life." "Cosas de la Vida."

“I like to think about life in a profound way…. searching for the soul that possibly has been lost. I do not consider myself at any moment to be a completely spiritual person, my soul is still owned by my body’s matter; what I do try very passionately is to find the spirituality in everything that I perceive and I see." BELINDA SHINSHILLAS Portraiture Portraiture in my personal opinion must be about the soul of the person of which the artist has portrayed, there are certain unique characteristics, but there is just a single soul for each person, unique and different, it is the essence of the being. Without finding the true essence, the portrait is lost, only when the person can see the soul that the artist recognizes within the portrait, then the portrait live

since feeling is first who pays any attention to the syntax of things will never wholly kiss you; wholly to be a fool while Spring is in the world my blood approves, and kisses are a far better fate than wisdom lady i swear by all flowers. Humorismos Tristes

No tengas miedo.. Luis G. Urbina

Proverbios y Cantares

Golpe a golpe, verso a verso… Golpe a golpe, verso a verso…

Belinda Shinshillas is an artist and poet born in Mexico City in 1967 and a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. Belinda’s work is of a contemporary character and highly influenced by surrealistic tendencies. Belinda's devotion for art began at an early age, continued and developed through studies of art history and analysis of the masters’ works in America and Europe. Belinda’s work transforms a spiritual art through vibrant colors, as an element of value, into a visual experience. This transformation allows the display of sensations and emotions that carry the observer to an apparent tranquility while meeting the delirious happiness represented by expressing our observations.
